New drivers start with a verified ID and build reviews from real trips — so a 5-star rating always means real travelers, never padding.

Fair prices, out in the open.

Real local rates for two travelers — the same numbers a trusted driver quotes a neighbor, not the tourist markup. Prices depend on where you start, so pick your base town.

Drivers & guides

Not just a ride — a local who knows the territory.

Some travelers want a driver to get them there. Others want a certified local guide — someone who knows the mountain, the history, and the safe way to walk it. Ruta has both.

Why guides matter here

When travelers hire local guides, the money reaches the base of the community — not just hotels, restaurants, and airlines. It's also safer: too many visitors hike these mountains from an Instagram photo, with no local knowledge. Booking a local guide turns a trip into real cultural exchange, and keeps tourism working for the territory instead of wearing it down.

— a principle shared with us by Blaney, one of Ruta's founding guides

Why I'm building this

My wife and her cousin wanted two days in the coffee region. Booking it took me three separate WhatsApp chats, six days of back-and-forth, and quotes all over the map for the same trip — not because the drivers were dishonest, but because there's no shared, fair price anyone can point to. As two women traveling alone, they just wanted to know who they'd be riding with before the day arrived.

The drivers were wonderful — warm, professional, proud of their region. The process was the problem. Ruta fixes that for both sides: travelers get fair fixed prices and a driver they can trust, and great local drivers get found, booked, and paid fairly — keeping 100% of their rate. No more chasing quotes over WhatsApp.

Headed somewhere else in Latin America?

Ruta starts in Colombia's coffee region, but we're expanding to more of Latin America — Cartagena, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico, and beyond. Tell us where you're going and we'll let you know the moment trusted local drivers and guides are ready there.
